Rome’s sustainable green oasis and social hub
Six Senses Rome occupies Palazzo Salviati Cesi Mellini, a protected historic building within Rome’s UNESCO-listed Historic Centre. The restored property preserves key architectural features, including its grand staircase and a 4th-century baptismal font visible from the ground floor. The spa draws inspiration from traditional Roman baths. LEED Gold certified in 2024, the hotel operates on 100 percent renewable energy. In 2025, Six Senses earned GSTC-accredited sustainability certification from Control Union.
Environmental Responsibility
Together with our hosts, we are firmly committed to minimizing negative environmental impacts from our hotel and spa operations through sustainable performance indicators. This includes sourcing 100 percent renewable energy, smart water collection and use, waste management, and city clean-up activities to support clean rivers, aligning with our group-wide plastic free pledge and guest engagement.

Wildlife conservation with Aurelia the she-wolf
Six Senses Rome supports the association I Am Not Afraid of the Wolf, which protects wolves in Italy and promotes coexistence between wolves and shepherds. Through our Regenerative Impact Fund, we help finance education, wolf monitoring, field research, and farmer support initiatives. To raise awareness, we created Aurelia, a handcrafted she-wolf mascot. In 2025, 351 Aurelias were sold, with all profits donated to support the project.

Tiber River preservation
Six Senses Rome is partnering with “Piùblu”, an association dedicated to combating plastic pollution in Rome’s Tiber River. Piùblu is committed to regenerating and protecting the Tiber by reducing plastic waste and engaging the local community leading cleanup efforts, promoting sustainable waste management, and educating residents, businesses, and schools on environmental stewardship. Together we are organizing large-scale clean-ups and community engagement events.
Social Responsibility
Located in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Historic Center of Rome, our efforts to produce meaningful, regenerative impacts not only extend to the preservation of the historical artefacts within our hotel, but also into the social hub that is the city itself. These include providing social reintegration opportunities for homeless people and facilitating discussions and public forums for many of the various organizations with aligned passions and drive for sustainability to meet, gather, and workshop bright ideas for the future.

Preservation of Romes’ heritage
Our next-door neighbor, the Church of San Marcello al Corso, is home to the protected remains of Rome’s oldest known baptism sanctuary, dating back to the 4th century, which can be viewed from our Earth Lab. Since 2021, Six Senses Rome has sponsored restoration works on the church’s façade, helping to preserve one of the city’s priceless cultural landmarks. These efforts have restored the masterpiece to its former glory, and guests are welcome to view artifacts inside the church during public opening hours.

Social inclusion and community integration
Six Senses Rome supports the Sant’Egidio Community through the Città Ecosolidale project, donating quality used clothing to assist vulnerable people and promote social inclusion through second-hand markets. In 2026, we are funding an apartment within the Co-Housing project, providing a home for five people with disabilities. We also partner with Albergo Etico, supporting hospitality training and employment opportunities for people with disabilities.

Earth Hub Educational Engagement Events
Through events, talks, and workshops hosted in our Earth Lab, Six Senses Rome engages the local community in discussions on environmental and social responsibility. By bringing together businesses, NGOs, and community members, we foster dialogue, collaboration, and action. Topics include climate change, circular economy, AI, and social inclusion, creating opportunities to share ideas and drive positive impact beyond the hotel.
